UYO, NIGERIA — In a resounding testament to its commitment to human capacity development and educational excellence, the Akwa Ibom State Government has officially declared open the online recruitment portal to employ 1,000 new teachers.
The recruitment drive, spearheaded by the Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board (AK-SUBEB), seeks to inject fresh, qualified talent into public primary and junior secondary schools across all 31 Local Government Areas of the state.
A Praise-Worthy Blueprint for the Future
This latest move by Governor Umo Eno’s administration has drawn widespread praise from educational stakeholders, parents, and community leaders alike. Rather than relying on outdated, manual application systems, the state government has leveraged cutting-edge digital infrastructure by routing the exercise through the newly deployed ARISE Youth Employment Portal (employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng).
By digitizing the process, the administration ensures a level playing field, eliminating the “backdoor” practices of the past in favor of a highly transparent, secure, and merit-based selection system. This structural modernization reflects the core philosophy of Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes transparency, youth empowerment, and public sector efficiency.
Strengthening Classroom Impact
Speaking on the launch of the recruitment portal, the Executive Chairman of AK-SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, Ph.D., emphasized that this initiative goes far beyond mere job creation.
“The recruitment is in strict alignment with our board’s mandate to radically improve the teacher-pupil ratio in our public schools, strengthen fundamental learning outcomes, and fully support the State Government’s unwavering commitment to quality basic education,” Dr. Etuk stated.
By targeting primary and junior secondary levels, the government is deliberately fortifying the foundational pillars of learning, ensuring that the next generation of Akwa Ibom indigenes receives the high-standard, competitive education required to thrive globally.
Application Window and Strict Eligibility
To maintain high standards of teaching excellence, AK-SUBEB has outlined clear, professional eligibility requirements. The application process is completely free of charge, and interested candidates must submit their applications between Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and Friday, July 31, 2026.
