CALABAR -The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16- year -old suspect in connection with the killing of a 20-year-old male, Uwem Daniel Akpan.
Akpan was allegedly stabbed during a misunderstanding at Peters Street, Awi, Calabar, on 31 August 2026.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 7:30 p.m., after which the victim was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital, Calabar, where he was confirmed dead.
The Command Public Relations Officer ,ASP Sunday Akata in a statement says ,“His remains were subsequently recovered by his family” while the suspect , is currently in police custody.
Akata said, the Command was investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and the alleged involvement of the suspect.
“The case is being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Calabar, for further investigation and appropriate legal action in accordance with the law,” the PPRO, further stated .
The Command urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, while assuring that the circumstances surrounding the incident will be thoroughly investigated, adding that further information will be provided as the investigation progresses and relevant facts established.
