ORUK ANAM -The Ibom Open Maternity (IOM) project has officially commenced with a comprehensive medical mission dedicated to pregnant women and nursing mothers in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The initiative conceptualised by the Carelife Character Foundation, is supported by the Coordinator of the office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki through the Patience Umo Eno Golden Initiative for All( GIFA (and other partners.
The mission which will end on Thursday August 13, 2026, is designed to tackle critical maternal and child health challenges by providing accessible, high-quality medical care, essential screenings, and vital health resources directly to grassroots communities.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Council, Hon. Sunday Festus and his wife Juliana, thanked Lady Obareki and other partners involved in the IOM coalition for their commitment to reaching underserved populations, to ensure that mothers and newborn babies receive the medical attention they deserve.
At the event, Patcare packages containing maternal care supplies, provided by Lady Obareki as well as the Local Government Council Chairman and wife, were distributed.
Medical officials and other partners provided medical checks and health education on safe pregnancy, infant care, family planning, nutrition, and others.
