Mboho Akwa Afaha Elects Prof John as Coordinator for Eket Senatorial District

Afaha Inang Unity Forum’s growing impact has continued to attract state-wide attention with the election of its President, Professor Elijah John as the coordinator of Mboho Akwa Afaha for Eket Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State.
His election which was unopposed took place on Saturday at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Onna, Edidem Raymond Inyang during the general meeting of Mboho Akwa Afaha attended by delegates from the 12 local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
This is coming less than two months after he was voted as the deputy chairman of Afaha 9, comprising the four Afaha Inang communities and five villages in Awa Afaha Clan.
Mboho Akwa Afaha comprises Afaha communities in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States and serves as a socio-cultural platform for promotion of the identity and unity of its members.
The election of new executive members of Mboho became necessary following the completion of the 8-year tenure of the outgoing officers which also had Obong Ekanem Noah, another prominent son of Afaha Inang and deputy president of Afaha Inang Unity Forum as an executive committee member.
Mr Mfon Akpabio, an architect,another prominent son of Afaha Inang and currently, secretary of Onna Local Government Area who was equally nominated for the prestigious position declined in an apparent move to back Professor John in the spirit of solidarity and unity of Afaha Inang.
Speaking shortly before the former executive committee was dissolved, the Enin Akwa Afaha Worldwide, Edidem Inyang urged members to unite and pursue a common goal of promoting their cultural identity and values.
Members of Afaha Inang Unity Forum who attended the meeting were later hosted by the paramount ruler which provided a golden opportunity for an interaction in an atmosphere of love, mutual respect and shared responsibility.
The meeting was attended by leaders of Afaha Inang Unity Forum who included Professor Aniekan Abasiattai, Obong Ini Akpabio and Mr Aniefiok Udonquak who were joined by family heads from Afaha Inang and the village head of Ikot Nkang.
The election of all members of the new executive committee was however ,postponed to a new date after the coordinator, woman leader and deputy coordinator were elected.
The inauguration of the new exco is likely to take place during the next meeting when the election into all elective positions will be concluded.
